Now (I can't stress this enough) mind-body dualism is not necessarily a dogma of the Judeo-Christian worldview. It was Plato's idea. Blame Plato.
Problem is, most people would say that if there is no immaterial "you" that survives death, that you just remain dead, because any replica of you created afterwards may think it is you, but you, personally, are still non-existant.

Seeing personal-ness as a function of divine consciousness fixes this little problem.
